FAQ

What is grey water?
Grey water is all household non toilet waste water. The EPA recommends you use only water from baths, showers, and washing machines. The warm up water from the shower and the final rinse water from the washing machine are considered the best sources.

How much water can I reclaim to use on my garden?
An average washing machine uses 120 litres of water. A half filled bath contains about the same amount. A shower fitted with a low flow head will use 9 litres a minute - much more if you haven’t converted. A family of four with one bath and one wash load a day plus 2 showers could look to reclaim 294litres a day! That's around 100,000 litres a year!

Is the pump easy to use?
Yes! We deliver it supplied with the necessary connections to work with your existing garden hose. All you need to do is attach the fittings to the pump, CLICK on your hose connection and connect to the power point. Operation is simple. On the automatic function it will turn off by itself. You don't have to stand by.

Do I need any other equipment to use the pump?
No. The pump is supplied with all the fittings you need to use with your garden hose. We can also supply other accessories -garden signs, sprinklers, trigger nozzles and shower trays

Does the pump go straight into the water?
Yes! It is designed to be submersed. You put it in the bath or shower or tub. When not in use it can be stored away in a cupboard.

How big is it?
The approximate measurements of the pump are 26cm high, 21cm long and 15cm wide. It weighs only 4 kilos - less than half a small bucket of water! It is compact and easy to store

What if I have very dirty or muddy water?
Do NOT use your pump in water that is dirty, muddy or has particle matter in it. Also do not use if there is fur, lint or hair in the water. The pump is not designed to filter out these things and you may cause damage to the pump.

When can I use my pump?
Every day you turn on a bath, shower or washing machine you will have water to use. It is recommended that you do not use after rain, or when the ground appears saturated. Make sure you rotate your irrigation so that your entire garden benefits, and that any residue in the grey water is not concentrated in one area of your garden.
